privacy
rlew.io is my personal site. i try to collect as little as possible about visitors. this page describes what happens.
analytics
i self-host umami at
analytics.rlew.io. it does not use cookies and does not
track you across sites. for each page view it records:
- the page you visited and the referrer
- your country (derived from ip, then the ip is discarded)
- browser, os, device type, and screen size
- clicks on the header, footer and about links
the old versions of the site, at /v1/ and
/v2/, load no analytics at all.
data stays on a server i control and is not shared with third parties.
local storage
whether the sound is on or off is kept in your browser's local
storage (rlew.sound). it never leaves your device, and
clearing site data resets it.
if your device can't keep the hidden flight smooth, that is noted in
your browser's session storage (rlew.grounded) so the fly
button stays hidden. it never leaves your device, and it goes when you
close the tab.
the old archipelago at /v2/ keeps the number of birds you
have shot down there too (rlew.birdsDowned), so its
counter survives a reload. nothing else is stored.
fonts
the league gothic and barlow condensed fonts are served from rlew.io itself. no font requests go to google or any other third party.
credits
the braam is “biodynamic impact braam tonal dark” by bryansantosbreton, from pixabay.
hosting
the site is served by cloudflare pages. cloudflare may log requests for security and abuse prevention under its own policies.
your rights
under uk gdpr you can ask what data i hold about you, ask me to delete it, or object to processing. email ryan@rlew.io. in practice analytics data is not linked to an identifiable person, so there is usually nothing to return.
